Mumbai All Dec Phoenix Marketcity, ked Up for Diwali!
Every year, Phoenix Marketcity, Mumbai visually treats its shoppers with art installations that are synonymous with world-class museums. Art seems to be at the heart of one of the biggest malls in Mumbai as they all portray mesmerising grandeur that’s sure to make for the greatest festive selfies. Renowned designers from the world over are invited to ply their trade and to create their best work which is then showcased to some millions of shoppers that throng to the mall every year. These set pieces certainly make for tasty eye candy compared to the expressionless mannequins and the backsides of escalators that you will see in other shopping malls.
For this year’s Diwali however, it seems like Marketcity Mumbai is looking to outdo itself with extravagant art installations that will be the envy of any entertainment hub anywhere in the world.
Diya Lumiere
The current centrepiece of one of the top 5 malls in Mumbai, Diya Lumiere is a colossal installation that is dotted with diyas at every point. Overlooking these lit diyas are lemon-sized mirror balls that are hung right above. Underneath the diyas are more mirror balls that reflect the light shining from the diyas. The light then reaches the suspended balls above which are then bounced off into the surroundings, illuminating the entire area. This method is not just an aesthetic design wonder but a metaphor for the responsibility entrusted upon people to spread light and cheer all around them. Diya Lumiere and its makers hope that it prompts everyone who sees it to empathize and carry hope to places where hope has extinguished; to be the shining beacon of light and to illuminate the lives of people who are seeing their dark days. It stands as a representation of how positivity begets positivity and how contagious it is which will make the world a better and a more hopeful place for all humankind. Elementa Designs are the brains behind this shopping centre’s crown jewel and be sure to check it out!
Sparks of Awakening
Taking cue from how light functions, Sparks of Awakening attempts to reach into the deep conscious of its admirer and compel them into introspection. It wants us to think of how light is enlightening; informing us of where we are and what surrounds us. Illuminated consciousness is more often than not symbolic of how light contributes to awareness of one’s surroundings. The installation brilliantly conveys how better decisions are a product of one’s consciousness and how consciousness is a product of light. This art piece is the brainchild of noted designer Mukesh Mankame. Don’t miss this on your next visit.
The Lamp of Fortune
Ever since the dawn of Indian culture and civilization, the lighting of the lamp has been a ritual on special occasions and ordinary. The ritual aims to extinguish darkness and all things unpleasant by spreading light. The burning flame simply means that the lamp will lead us from darkness to light and that fire (which translates to Agni in Sanskrit and deemed holy in Hindu scriptures) will ensure prosperity on an auspicious event. The fire also signifies ample light and wealth to anyone who lights it and for them to achieve innumerable material success. Another gem from Elementa Designs, this particular one was our favourite and you will see why when you see it for yourself.
Not to mention the many other decorative lights that Phoenix Marketcity, Mumbai adorns itself with during every festive season, these particular set pieces are the ones that draw shoppers to one of the famous malls in Mumbai.
So, clear out your weekend and be prepared to be left amazed by the opulent décor that you will see at Phoenix Marketcity, Mumbai.
